Local start up Wroute Inc. announces doubling of station locations.
Expanded service includes university and college campuses across Waterloo Region and locations near
major employers in central Kitchener-Waterloo.
Kitchener, ON – The cities of Waterloo and Kitchener are about to feel an electric surge as sustainable local start up Wroute Inc. announced today that they would be more than doubling their station locations across Waterloo Region starting April 1st to meet the growing commuting demands of the community.
Additional stations being added to their existing intercity station network starting April 1st include: Health Sciences Campus (Kitchener), Catalyst137 (Kitchener), Conestoga College (Kitchener), Sun Life (Waterloo), Conestoga College (Waterloo), University of Waterloo – Davis Centre (Waterloo), Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo), and Conestoga College (Cambridge). The newly announced service expansion brings the total number of stations serviced by Wroute’s fleet of 0 emission Tesla SUVs to 15 across Waterloo Region, Guelph and Burlington.
In addition to increased station offerings starting April 1st, the company also announced other improvements being introduced to their service offering to include; increased schedule frequency across all existing and new stations, a student shuttle collaboration with Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre to support Aviation students travelling between the University of Waterloo and Waterloo Regional Airport (YKF), relocation of Wroute’s passenger transfer hub to YKF, a new transit terminal integration agreement with the City of Guelph, simplification of the fare structure across the network, new discount membership program for frequent travellers and the return of bike racks to the fleet for spring commuting. “We have worked very closely with the community to understand their intercity commuting needs and are proud to offer our most comprehensive service offering to date.” said Wroute President Jason Hammond.
Launched in September 2018, this is the second service expansion the company has offered in the past six months since it launched. Many of the Wroute stations have been selected to offer easy transfer for passengers to other public transit services including ION, GO and Amtrak. “We are here to connect the dots, conveniently, safely and sustainably and we are thrilled to offer more options for our community to travel sustainably” Says Hammond.
